1. Trust First, Vision Second

This quote transformed how I build teams. Here’s the tool I’ve used since my Starbucks days that never fails – Stop • Start • Continue (SSC). Schedule those 1:1s, listen deeply, and watch the magic happen.

2. Find Your Authentic Connection

True story – I once asked my leader how to communicate a vision I wasn’t fully bought into. Launi’s advice? Find that one piece you believe in and lead from there. It’s been gold ever since.

3. Make It Sticky

35 years later, I still remember Colin’s “5120” vision. 5000 points of distribution. $1B revenue. 20% profit contribution. Simple. Clear. Repeatable. Find your team’s numeric north star.

4. Create Victory Laps

You know that feeling when you check your social media likes? 😉 Your team craves those wins too. Small victories build mountains of momentum. Plan them. Celebrate them. Watch confidence soar.

5. Remove the Friction

My mentor Rob taught me this 35 years ago – a leader’s true value is removing obstacles. From Chris, I learned that most problems can be solved by addressing the 3Ps:

Programs → Process → People

Always in that order. Trust me on this one.
