As we embark on a New Year, we are bombarded with many ideas and ways to change and progress into 2023.
The main application we have been taught is to set a list of resolutions. It has worked for some, we would assume it has not worked for most. So this leaves us wondering why?
The answer, we propose, lies in the question itself. Why?
In his book Start With Why, Sinek argues that leaders and organizations that start with the “why” are able to inspire and motivate others more effectively than those that only focus on the “what” and “how.” We, therefore, posit that the Limitless Leader in their initial phase of Leadership of Self should follow the same direction.
The process of setting Resolutions is flawed as it focuses on the “What” hence that is why the majority fail to achieve their goals.
The Limitless Leader leading themselves must invest time to determine their purpose in order to achieve the desired change and progress towards their worthy goals. That is the Promise of Purpose.
The Limitless Leader 3 Steps:
1. Reflect on your values and goals: The first step in determining your purpose is to reflect on what you believe in and what you want to achieve. This can involve asking yourself questions like, “What do I stand for?” and “What do I want to change in the world?” Answering these questions can help you gain a deeper understanding of your values and goals, which can in turn inform your purpose as a leader.
2. Identify small habits and actions that align with your values and goals: Once you have a clear understanding of your values and goals, the next step is to identify small habits and actions that align with them. This can involve things like setting daily or weekly goals, or finding small ways to incorporate your values into your work and personal life. By consistently working towards these habits and actions, you can compound their impact and move closer to your purpose.
3. Use your purpose as a guiding force: Once you have determined your purpose, it’s important to use it as a guiding force in your life and work. Use your purpose to inspire and motivate yourself. It can also involve regularly reflecting on your purpose and making adjustments as needed to ensure that it remains relevant and meaningful to you.
