To Change Or Not To Change
Apr 06, 2021
During these volatile times, The Limitless Leader understands that change is inevitable.
In the documentary The Minimalist, Annie Leonard said:
You can change by design or by disaster.
Annie Leonard
As I see it, disaster happens if you stand still and wish for the bad to go away, for the things to come back to the way they were.
The question the Limitless Leader should ask:
Is the change we are about to undergo set by design?
Some have counseled not to let the a good crisis go to waste. The best way to achieve this is to design towards the possibilities and the opportunities.
In order to disrupt an industry, some players (Amazon, Airbnb, Uber) appear to have played outside a box. As I see it, they have just defined a new box. By looking at the changing landscape and iterating the various upcoming evolution, they defined a new environment to thrive in.
How can the Limitless Leader achieve this?
• Increase the amount of data input on what is changing
• Expand on the future possibilities driven by the environment and technology
• Iterate on ideas by abandoning old truths
In order to arrive to the efficient solution, the Limitless Leader knows many tests will have to be done, many new ideas discarded but one essential item will remain:
Properly defining/setting of the KPI essential to Green Light a new idea and roll it out enterprise wide or into the marketplace.
Once set, the Limitless Leader will test fast and test often; knowing he will fail fast and fail often.
As my first economics professor in Grade 11 shared with me:
Change is the one thing that does not change.
